Instructor: Dean TumibayDean has been a practicing physiotherapist since November 2014 at the Glenrose Rehabilitation Hospital and has acquired experience in the areas of geriatric inpatient, stroke and brain injury, orthopedic inpatients and spinal cord injury. Dean has worked extensively with the University of Alberta as both a standardized patient and examiner for their various school, and bridging program practical exams. From both the hands-on and academic experience Dean has gained, he has developed a passion for assisting students in passing the practical component of the Physiotherapy licensing exam, and has tutored students on a volunteer basis by running mock OSCEs and providing information on the national exam expectations.
Dean is comfortable providing direct feedback, and believes in giving students the skills to engage in quality practice sessions both with an instructor and in their respective study groups.Suggested course for students attempting the February or April 2024 Alberta Alternative exam.
Course sessions are Face-to-Face in-person and will be located at #202, 728 – 91 Street SW, Edmonton, Alberta.
There will be a scheduled 1/2 hour break between morning and afternoon sessions, or afternoon and evening session.

Instructor: Alysia McKillopAlysia completed her Master of Science in Physical Therapy in 2018 at the University of Alberta in Edmonton. Prior to this she obtained a Bachelor of Science with a major in Health Science at Mount Royal University in Calgary. Alysia has always had a passion for pediatric rehab and has spent her entire career working in a variety of pediatric settings. Her experience includes daily intensive inpatient rehab, school based therapy, private practice (in pediatrics), and community based rehab with Alberta Health Services.
Alysia has always had a natural desire to teach and coach. She believes in lifelong learning and is always looking for ways to continually grow as a clinician. Through teaching Alysia hopes to not only support her students on their journey to success, but to also continually learn from them.
One of the things Alysia enjoys most about teaching is finding new and unique ways to present material to students - making sure content is accessible and understood by everyone. She recognizes not everyone learns the same way and she strives to be adaptable and flexible to meet her student’s needs.
“I want my students to know that I am here for them. I want them to feel comfortable coming to me for help and letting me know when things just aren’t making sense. Instructor: Josh FirsowJosh completed his Master's of Science in Physical Therapy at the University of Alberta after completing his undergraduate Bachelor of Science degree.
Josh has a love of teaching that he incorporates into all aspects of his professional practice. Josh currently works in private practice physiotherapy at the University of Calgary. He previously worked as a University of Alberta MScPT anatomy lab teaching assistant.
Josh enjoys supporting his students by addressing their individual academic challenges, helping to build their confidence and collaborating to assist students in achieving their goals. Instructor: James NaJames received his Master of Physiotherapy degree from Dalhousie University in 2019 after completing his Bachelor of Science, Honours in Chemistry. He was a recipient of the prestigious Undergraduate Student Research Award by Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC). James is currently working at an acute care hospital. He has experience in general medicine, respiratory, orthopaedics, emergency, and outpatient physiotherapy.
James has been extensively involved in teaching opportunities throughout his undergraduate degree as he worked as both a teaching assistant and a tutor. As a new physiotherapist, James understands the difficulties students encounter when they take the exam. With this in mind, he works diligently to provide a conducive and effective learning environment for each session where he will listen and provide necessary feedback to maximize students’ performance. James is also fluent in conversation Korean.Suggested course for students attempting the February or April 2024 Alberta Post-Graduate Clinical Evaluation.

Instructor: Mary StangMary graduated from the University of Alberta with a Masters of Science in Physical Therapy in 2014. She has been a practicing physiotherapist since March 2014 at the Glenrose Rehabilitation Hospital, in Edmonton, in spinal cord injury, stroke, brain injury, and general neurology. When not at the Glenrose, Mary works with various sports teams, including, rugby, football, and hockey. She has extensive experience as an OSCE examiner, working closely with the University of Alberta’s physiotherapy graduate program and Bridging Program, and has been an examiner for the National Practical Exam.
Mary is very passionate about helping to ensure that Canada has strong, capable, and respected physiotherapists. She mentors University of Alberta graduate students and Bridging Program students, and looks for every opportunity to teach and challenge future physiotherapists to find their passion, and develop into strong practitioners, who always strive to excel in their area and be lifelong learners.Suggested course for students attempting the February or April 2024 Alberta Alternative exam.

Instructor: Juliana VipondJuliana has a Masters of Science in Physical Therapy from the University of Alberta and a Bachelor of Kinesiology from the University of Manitoba.
She has practiced in a variety of clinical areas including private practice, hip and knee pre/post operative clinics and subacute MSK units. She currently works in a short stay Regional Community Transition Program unit where she treats patients recovering from a variety of medical and subacute MSK conditions.
She has a passion for teaching and helping others. Juliana focuses on creating an inclusive learning environment where students can build their confidence and refine their clinical reasoning skills.
